This is our novice level group for the child just out of swimming lessons and with limited or no competitive swimming background. To enter this group the child must be able to swim 25 yards
unassisted with one of the 4 competitive strokes. |

Introduction to competition. Emphasis is on fundamental technique of the four competitive strokes, and starts and turns. To enter this group the child must be proficient in freestyle and backstroke. |

Introduction to training, both in the water and on
dryland. Race strategy is introduced, more competition is encouraged, and there is a continued emphasis on technique. Entry into this group requires four legal strokes and adequate endurance.
