MAC Coaching Staff David Lammel - Program Director/Coach. David has been the Program Director since 1989. He also served as the Head Coach from 1989-1998. In this time, MAC established itself as one of the largest and most stable swimming programs in the Midwest, consistently producing swimmers at the national championship level. Coach Lammel was a 7 time high-school All-American at Millard South under coach Rob Wennstedt (1982-84) and still holds the Nebraska state high school record in the 100 yard fly (49.34). David has coached swimmers to Junior National Championship Final heats as well as Senior National qualification times. He was named Midwestern Swimming Co-Senior Coach of the Year in 2000. He and his wife Sue have two daughters, Mackenzie (13) and Madison (11). Tracy Stauffer - Senior
coach. Tracy has been the head swim coach at Millard West High School
since its opening in 1994. Coach Stauffer has produced numerous Nebraska State High School
champions as well as many high school All-Americans. Tracy teaches A.P.
Psychology and Physical Education at Millard West. Prior to coming to
Millard West, Coach Stauffer was the head swim coach and assistant football
coach at Lincoln Northeast High School. Coach Stauffer swam for Rob
Wennstedt at Lincoln Northeast from 1979-81. Tracy and his wife Jenda have 4
kids, Seth, Kayla, Mariah and Jake. Tyler Hammond - Tyler is a graduate of Millard South High School where he was a two time state champion, and still a school record holder, under coach Rob Wennstedt. He also is a former three year letterman and team captain of the University of Northern Iowa men's team. Tyler began his swimming career at the age of six with the Millard Aquatic Club and years later is a member of the M.A.C. staff. Coach Hammond has worked with all age groups from lesson programs to the collegiate level. Tyler served as an assistant coach for the Cedar Falls Swim Club in Cedar Falls, Ia. as well as the Head masters coach for the Panther Masters program. Prior to serving as the Head Coach for Waverly Area Swim Club, in Waverly, Ia., Tyler was an assistant for the University of Northern Iowa women's team. Coach "T" graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Physical Education and is currently teaching at Millard South. Tyler is the head boys and girls swim coach at Millard South. David Tyler - Coach Tyler joined the MAC staff in the spring of 2006 and is also the head coach at Millard North High School. He has a masters degree from Texas Christian University and has been a head coach at both the high school and club levels in Texas and for St. Andrew's Aquatics Club. Coach Tyler has coached numerous Senior and Junior National qualifiers. David was a Senior National and US Open Championship qualifier in several events specializing in the distance events. Coach finished as high as eighth in the 400 meter free. Coach Tyler began his collegiate career at Arizona State University and finished his last two seasons at James Madison University where he was a captain and CAA conference swimmer of the year in 1992. After graduation, Dave got involved with open water swimming and eventually won the coveted City of Ft. Lauderdale Ocean Mile twice. This event annually attracts over 3,000 competitors. Coach Tyler followed up that win the next year by winning the Swim Around Key West in record setting fashion. Dave is married to wife Jessica and have one son Quinn (1). Shannon Meyer - Shannon is a graduate of Millard West High School and swam for MAC from 1993-2000. Shannon was a Nebraska state champion as a member of the MW 400 free relay team in 2000. Coach Meyer was a four year varsity letter winner and scholarship athlete for the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Shannon has 10 years of swim lesson experience and was an assistant coach for UNO during the 2004-05 season. This is Shannon's second year on the MAC staff. Coach Meyer has a Bachelor's degree in secondary education and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art. Dave Edwards - Coach Edwards competed for the Bellevue Swim Club and was a distance freestyler for Creighton University under coach Jack Jackson. Dave has coached at both the high school level and age group level in Kearney, NE as well as in Manhattan, KS. Coach Dave was also the head age group coach and assistant senior coach in Fort Belvoir, VA. Dave is also a certified athletic trainer and teaches elementary physical education in Omaha. Coach Edwards joined the MAC staff during the fall of 2006 and is the primary coach for MAC's White group. Dave is married to wife Lisa and has two sons, Max and Trevor. Kari Weihl - Kari is primarily responsible for the Rookie group. Coach Weihl has a great background in lesson programs and competitive swimming. Kari has been a lesson instructor for 5 years and competing herself for 11 years. Kari is a 4 year varsity letter winner for coach Stauffer at Millard West High School and a team leader in every sense. She brings a great attitude and lots of energy to practice as both an athlete and coach. Kari will begin a swimming career for the University of Nebraska-Kearney in the fall of 2007.
